My current role involves me carrying out Pre-pour inspections, Health and Safety inspections and Temporary Works inspections. I also run a weekly Quality meeting for both the Concrete and Steel packages. I track steel progress and am the Environmental Site Coordinator and the COSHH Coordinator.
I am continuously learning and developing new skills. With every project I am on, my role varies slightly, meaning I am exposed to different stages/ areas of a project.
The programme offers me a wide variety of skills, whether it's internal training or out on site in my day to day role. I love going to University once a week.
The programme is extremely well structured. We are offered a lot of training in our 1st of 4 years which then diminishes year on year. This is appropriate as our responsibilities on our projects increases and therefore need to have more of a presence.
We receive a lot of support from the large Emerging Talent team, other apprentices and our project team.
Since being at UEL, I have received a lot of support. I have bi-annual meetings with my Line Manager and the University present to track my progress.
As Mace isn't an Engineering firm, the course doesn't always align, however I thoroughly enjoy both.
There are extra-curricular activities Mace offer as a business however these are better advertised to those at Head Office. My project team however regularly organises socials.
