  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My current role involves me carrying out Pre-pour inspections, Health and Safety inspections and Temporary Works inspections. I also run a weekly Quality meeting for both the Concrete and Steel packages. I track steel progress and am the Environmental Site Coordinator and the COSHH Coordinator.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am continuously learning and developing new skills. With every project I am on, my role varies slightly, meaning I am exposed to different stages/ areas of a project.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme offers me a wide variety of skills, whether it's internal training or out on site in my day to day role. I love going to University once a week.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is extremely well structured. We are offered a lot of training in our 1st of 4 years which then diminishes year on year. This is appropriate as our responsibilities on our projects increases and therefore need to have more of a presence.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from the large Emerging Talent team, other apprentices and our project team.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Since being at UEL, I have received a lot of support. I have bi-annual meetings with my Line Manager and the University present to track my progress.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As Mace isn't an Engineering firm, the course doesn't always align, however I thoroughly enjoy both.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are extra-curricular activities Mace offer as a business however these are better advertised to those at Head Office. My project team however regularly organises socials.

  • Yes

  • Mace is a fantastic company who provide lots of Benefits to their employees and working at Mace gives you the opportunity to work on some great projects.
