On a day to day basis as a claims handler, i deal with policy holders who have enquiries on liability as well as speaking to solicitors, councils etc. I have to make timely informed decisions on who we deem to be at fault for a motor collision. We then raise payments to different parties based on who is at fault.
I have definitely improved my time managing skills and motivation to work on my own without being prompted. With Covid 19 and working from home often i have had to adapt to a new way of working and assist my leader with monitoring team performance via excell spreadsheets which i had never done before.
I believe the program has been a great way into multiple departments in the company which i possibly never would of had chance to work in without the apprenticeship. From all the different departments a have a wide range of knowlege on multiple aspects of motor claims which makes it more enjoyable.
The program is strucured very well, i have a meeting with my talent coach every 6 weeks to catch up with each other and talk about progression on targets that have been set and a generic wellbeing chat. We also exchange emails frequently and my talent coach is very approachable to speak about any difficulties i may have
My employer is very supportive with my apparenticeship, i have a mentor who i frequently send updates of my progression too. My mentor also joins the kaplan calls and makes sure that i am on track with everything and that i am doing everything i can to be successful in the coursework and exams
As previously mentioned i recieve a great deal of support from my training provider kaplan. They assist me with any queries i have or topics/chapters that i am struggling on. They also have an online learning platform called mykapapp which has exam questions and revision material which helps prepare for exams
kaplans assistance helps greatly in my role. I feel much better knowing they are helping me in every way, it almost adds a peace of mind element to my role. Within my actual role many exam related questions and material have actually helped me in real life scenarios in claims.
Within my work there isnt as such many sports events, however within my team everone is sociable and are more than happy to meet outside work for food/drinks. In a way this helps to get to know them better as a person and makes the office enviroment much higher in moralle
Yes
I have recommended RSA Insurance to a few friends due to the family like enviroment that it has and also due to its job satisfaction. The many roles accross the company also offer this benefit and the competetive pay rate compared to competitors is also an added benefit to the job role as well as the bonus/pension funds.
For anyone applying to RSA insurance i would give the advice of trying to learn the job in small parts and try absorb as much information as you can. Shadowing people/listening to others and be willing to learn. When i first started i felt quite overwhelmed with the amount of information thrown at me, but with hard work it is pretty easy to grasp
