providing broadband and telephone lines to customer, this includes copper lines and fibre optic lines. and also repairs on the telecoms network
many new skills, how to climb safely, conduct risk assessments, pumping or clearing out joint boxes. working near low voltage equipment, communicating with customers, providing new telecoms services, it goes on and on.
i love this job, but the learning curve is very steep. its great working outdoors but tough in the winter.
its very structured and organised, however stuff like training can get shifted around due to the work stack.
the support is great and its always there, for example coach on demand who is just a telephone call away.
its only just beginning, but the support is good and relevant to what we are doing in terms of our length on the job
i couldn't do the job without it, literally and i wouldn't get a pay rise for completing the qualification.
there are many opportunities to meet up and improve learning and well being not related to your role. we can volunteer to help charitable organisations, fundraise for charity. we have breakfast team meetings with a bacon sandwich.
Yes
its an organisation with a future, they care about our wellbeing and health, the safety is second to none. the benefits and perks for working here are massive. there are many roles on offer once qualified and no 2 days are the same.
be honest, customer service is at Openreach's heart. if you have an interest in fixing/building things and are good with people you'll do well. it is a technical job but you dont need to have experience or working in a technical field to get in. we are recruiting lots of women. there are plenty of mature starters as well.
