My role includes working deliveries and stock daily, scanning a gap to enable the system to order stock into store, leading other colleagues and task delegating, cash handling and banking, completing training and ensuring all colleagues are also completing mandatory training which is required from everyone in the company to keep us legal and safe.
I'd say I haven't really learnt any new skills but have developed skills on how to be a leader and the importance of staying compliant to all laws and regulations involved in the workplace. It has also developed my skills to develop others, coaching colleagues to be the best they can.
In the beginning I enjoyed it but as the months have past Its starting to get a little boring. The tasks set are obviously compulsory but aren't very engaging in my opinion. In my situation I've learnt more by shadowing managers whilst being at work compared to completing the tasks on the apprenticeship.
I think it's very well organised and structured. We have a clear indication of when tasks will be set and when we have to complete them by. The only thing I would change is be to clearer when getting to the end of the course how long it would take.
I received a fair amount of support from my employer. When help is needed it is always given. If I ask my manager they are always willing to help me with anything they have had experience with. If I ask my tutor for help she is always willing to assist me.
I receive the right amount of support from my training provider. We are given monthly learning conferences which will teach us about the upcoming modules we need to complete tasks on. These help give us the majority of the information we need. Also monthly meetings and reviews with our tutor.
I think the apprenticeship does help some people perform better in their role. For me I have bettered myself through actually being in store more and working with different people than I have learning on the apprenticeship. I think it depends on the person whether written work is suited to them or not.
As I work in a retail store we only really have a social event at Christmas. This is due to not having the funding or time to complete anything as the shop is open 16 hours a day so someone always has to be there. It woukd be beneficial to the team to do more activities but isn't possible.
Yes
I think overall it is a good company to work for. Although it has its down sides liek working unsociable hours but that's to be expected from a retail store. It also depends on the tram you are working with whether you have a good experience at work or not.
I'm not really sure.
