During my day I work on AutoCAD which involves creating and changing Models and drawings, which later get sent off to our mentors to get checked and approved for the next stage which is sent off to a outside verifier, after they approve it then it gets sent off to the contractor which creates the project.
I have learnt new skills and developed existing skills which include AutoCAD which is a computer aid design software, I have also developed my presentation skills this was achieved by talking in meetings and presentations this has been difficult as I have not talked in large groups before and it was a first for me.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship because it allows me to learn while earning a living wage so I can fund my living choices while doing what I love which is engineering, creating and seeing though projects and increasing my skill set for the future, this opportunity is a perfect fit for my passion.
the programme I am on is very well organised / structured because it allows the students to learn with mentors that are highly trained and are able to help and support you though the apprenticeship. the tasks set are well designed for the apprentices, and the support given to us is great.
we get a lot of support of our managers, our managers help us get set up and they give us guidance with any problem we may have, our Mentors help us on a day to day basis which includes our projects which we are assigned to do and the tasks that we are also assigned.
the training provider gives us all the support we need, we get highly trained Tutors which help us with anything we might need which could include our assignments or sorting out schedule or any part of our course we might not understand or that we need help with towards our qualifications.
I feel that my qualification though my training provider helps me to perform better in my job role because the qualification involves health and safety which is very important with my job role this is because my job role involves a lot of construction type of work which if not done properly can be dangerous.
Yes there are extra curricular activates that I get involved in such as training days which help us socialise with other apprentices and help us understand the roles provided to us, I have also attended a after work activity where the apprentices join other employees to socialise and create professional networks with others.
Yes
I would recommend Severn Trent to a friend because of the opportunities that Severn Trent provide us with such as out pension scheme, the opportunity to buy shares of the company for a discounted price and how Severn Trent treats us which is amazing. another this is that Severn Trent teaches us more then our job roles needs which is good because Severn Trent is going beyond and above to educate us.
my advise for applying to Severn Trent would be to be yourself when applying and try to act natural in your interview, try to prepare some evidence of what you have done before and where you have exceeded the task you were set and apply for something you enjoy doing because if you do a job you love, you will enjoy that job.
