As a member of the Health and Safety Team I am part of of a group dedicated to promoting a positive safety culture within the company. Working with various parts of the business analysing data and communicating best practice.
Every day is a school day, pardon the cliché. Since starting I have been encouraged to embrace curiosity and push myself to learn new skills. Existing skills have been identified and used to benefit the wider team. The Apprenticeship provider has worked well with Severn Trent in this way.
Joining a new company and learning so much is challenging without question, however the trust and empowerment is great. There is always support to be had with the onus on you to ask when needed.
As I was the first apprentice the department have had there was evidently a lot of thought which had gone in to making it as good an experience as possible. Being flexible between apprentice work and ST work has been good however could be developed more.
Lots! Severn Trent have definitely been truly supportive and I am in no doubt that if I have questions I can always ask someone.
RHG have been very good, we do not meet in person and it is purely digital however I can schedule calls as and when I feel necessary and my learning coach is very supportive.
My qualification is a general Health and Safety one so it does not always immediately resonate with what I am doing on a day to day basis. However, this knowledge is very important for me to have as I progress within my role.
I have not really had the opportunity to get involved in anything extra-curricular which is a shame. I think there are plans but nothing as of yet.
Yes
Great people, good rewards package and the knowledge that what we do is important.
Be honest and be passionate about who you are and what you can bring. Do your research into the company and what they are trying to do.
