I am currently on Senior Health Care Support Worker Level 3 apprenticeship, ably supported by my indefatigable Assessor/Trainer. My role on day to day basis is that I practice phlebotomy i.e taking of blood, I carried out wound care management, I am part of the medicine management team, I advocate for pressure ulcer prevention, I am competent with catheter care management and maintaining good personal hygiene for patients while promoting their independence, right and dignity. I am also part of the Integrated Discharge Team (IDT), where it’s my job to support the team to help facilitate safe and efficient hospital discharges, and to keep patients safe within their own home. I also double as a digital champion supporting new starters with logins and helping out colleagues with basic IT issues.
The support given by my Assessor and the Community Hospital where l work has really made me gained vast experience both in dignity, respect, good documentation, Confidentially in Care, Empathy and compassionate of care etc, which is my driven focus and encouragement that give me confident that l will be a good Nurse. Besides, I have since taken on more responsibilities to further develop existing skills.
I am Blessed to come on this programme as I have learnt and gained insight into mental health, and the difficulties and suffering faced by people with mental issues on a daily basis.
My Programme is well Organised and tailored to help me to focus on my goals.
I received tremendous support from HCRG Care Group, my Manager and my Assessor.
Good Supports resources are provided by my training provider i.e BUD online platform and the supports like the Cognassist platform online.
It has really helped me to focus on my goals in becoming a Nurse.
I have been involved in Organising quiz challenges withing our unit in the Hospital.
