My role involves assisting the brokers with their policies. This means using Aons platforms and having regular contact with the brokers to complete the necessary tasks that we are asked to do. Everyday, I am building relationships with the members of my team, assisting them when necessary and asking them any questions I may have about the team or my work. My responsibility is to make sure I really understand my role and I am able to complete all my tasks by the deadline as well as accurately.
Through starting my apprenticeship at Aon, I have learnt a lot of new skills and developed the ones that I already had. These skills, I have learnt both on the job as well as through the learning programme (Davies). For example, I have developed on my teamwork skills, through completing a task on teamwork through aptem (the learning platform) as well as through working closely with my team to complete my daily tasks. This may include asking them for help or advice.
I highly enjoy my programme and would definitely recommend it because I believe I have learnt so much and developed so much in such a short space of time. I am surrounded by so many people who are there to support me and help me achieve my goals. My coach from Davies offers so much support and is there if I ever have any questions about tasks I need to complete towards my apprenticeship.
From my personal experience, I think the structure of our programme is really good in terms of the exams. For example, we take 3 exams and these are spread evenly across our apprenticeship. Also we create a portfolio which builds up throughout the course of the apprenticeship. I also like that our coach is really approachable, and can ask any questions we have receiving a relatively fast response.
In terms of my team, I receive all the support that I need from everyone. My line manager is always there if I need to quickly phone him to ask a question, and he will always set up training sessions and ect. if I feel I need them. In terms of the members of my team, they are always happy to help me and will always make time to help me to go through anything or assist me with my tasks.
My coach offers us apprentices so much support where we need it. For example, if I have a a task I need to complete and am unsure what needs to be done, I can get in contact with Oli and he will send me a more in depth description of what is needed. Also if I need to submit something but would like him to check it before I do so, then I can send it over and he will tell me if there is anything that might make it better.
In terms of my CII exam, I feel that the knowledge I take away from my revision does benefit me within my role. This could mean learning what abbreviations are in insurance which I never knew or understood before. The broking exam is helping me to expand my knowledge of what the brokers do and how they do their role.
Within my team, we have team socials which is time for us to come closer as a team, like a team bonding day. This may include doing an activity like mini golf and then having food and drinks. I highly enjoy it when we have these days because it brings the team closer together, and it makes you feel more comfortable within your team as well.
Yes
I would definitely recommend AON to a friend because I believe I am well looked after and supported by my team at Aon. I feel I have opportunities which are helping me to progress in insurance and I am surrounded by people who would like to watch me succeed. Aon is full of positivity and support.
The advice I would give to anyone applying at Aon, is to be yourself and be honest with what you know. If you are new to insurance, they don't expect you to know everything about it, you just need to have some knowledge of what your going into. When I started at Aon, I had no idea but my knowledge has expanded massively.
