I run the operations of the restaurant behind the scenes and on the floor. I look after aspcts of the business such as labour, peoples well being, food cost and lots of other financial aspects of the business in order to ensure the business is profitable. I also have to ensure that operations on the floor are to the best standard possible.
Yes i have learnt lots of news things whilst being on the course such as adapting aspects of my managerial style to different situations and that we don't always need to act with a singular style but to use different ones in different situations. How to properly motivate staff etc.
I am really enjoying my time on the programme, as it is allowing me to not only learn new skills but adapt the ones i currently have to be the best manager i can be. Not only this but i am able to share my ideas with other people on the course to help them with not just their uni work but restaurant work too and vice versa.
The course is very well structured and organised and all lecturers are really helpful and genuinely want us to succeed. I also think they actually understand how hard it can be to do a degree alongside working for McDonalds and aim to give us as many tips as possible to get the most out of this degree.
I personally receive a lot of support from my employer as they wanted me to go onto this course to better myself and their business. My employer often joins in my university reviews and often seeks opportunities for us to sit down and talk about what i have learnt at university or to see if i need any help.
The lecturers are very helpful and also so are the skills coaches as they want what is best for us. They always remind us of different opportunities that will help us through day to day life not only whilst at uni. They also make sure that we understand what is expected of us and help to reach any end goals
The degree has already helped me to become better in my role as i have some further understanding of why we do things and how we do things at McDonalds. And if i didn't have time to ask about things at work it has helped me to understand further. Not only behind the sense but in my people practices too.
There are some opportunities to get involved with things at work however they have been quite limited lately due to Covid-19. However we often bring the whole group together in order for out franchisee to show his appreciation of his staff and to let them know how he recognises all of their hard work.
Yes
They are very supportive in members of the team who genuinely show that they want to progress through the business and invest time and money into you. They also look to do best by their employees providing you always give them your most too. They are a very fair employer who want to get people into work.
Be yourself and if you always work hard you will always be recognised and appreciated. Times can definitely get hard but don't give up as things will always get brighter. You are very appreciated and everyone is going through the same thing! Just keep going and if you ever need anyone to talk to. there is always someone there! McDonalds is a family.
