I spend 4 days a week at work in meetings, sending emails to report our performance and news to our current and new investors. The other day I spend studying my university work.
I have learnt how to communicate well and present to a large group of people. Additionally, my excel and other technical skills have massively improved, making me work much more quickly and accurately.
I thoroughly enjoy my program, it is important to stay on top of both university and business work to make sure deadlines are met. I have to do additional studying after work near exams but the topics are very interesting and there is additional support from the bank and university.
I think there could be more organisation between the bank and the university as I feel there is sometimes a mismatch between the two, but if this bridge is closed I believe that the work and study side of things would cause less stress on workload.
The employer leaves the university side of work to the university, but provide lots of mentors, and meetings and learning events to help you understand the business and reach out to people f there are any issues. They encourage you to join networks and help learn about other business areas.
The university have many contacts you can reach out to regarding, safeguarding, help with essays/exams, general worries and stress.
I feel that I learn the content at university and immediately use it in my day-to-day role. It is definitely learning by doing and I feel the real-life examples I get at work really help consolidate the content I am tested on at university.
There are different networks regarding gender equality, cultural awareness, mental health and more which you are able to join. Additionally there are sports teams such as netball that can be joined. Many events occur throughout the year and it is a great opportunity to meet new people.

The culture at UBS is that everyone is there to help you, there are no silly questions and it is a safe place to learn and adapt. You are encouraged to learn from your mistakes, not punished for them.
Be yourself, UBS is a friendly environment and you need to make sure the bank suits you, as well as you suiting the bank :)
