  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Work within the audit team for KPMG clients, performing risk assessment, test work and verifying financial statements.

    5/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, accounting technical knowledge has massively grown as well as softer people and management skills

    7/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme has been worth it overall, with the sponsored degree and training. However, it has been underpaid for significant parts.

    5/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Training/university was split up well within my programme as well as work elements.

    9/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is relatively limited, there is an emphasis on being independent rather than the employer holding your hand.

    3/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Good support from ICAS/University of birmingham throughout.

    8/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Limited cross over between my day to day work and studies, only a handful of my modules would impact work.

    4/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are some, but during covid it has been difficult and the company has been slow to return to the office. Socials are very limited, and budgets seem to be tightened in recent years.

    3/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • This could just be for my department, but it feels too big and uncaring. Many people leave within 3/4 years of joining, so most people I've worked with and created strong friendships with have moved on and I don't feel very attached to KPMG.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Make sure to research the role in detail. I've seen alot of people join KPMG and not realise the role & qualifications they are doing aren't right for them.
