Work within the audit team for KPMG clients, performing risk assessment, test work and verifying financial statements.
Yes, accounting technical knowledge has massively grown as well as softer people and management skills
My programme has been worth it overall, with the sponsored degree and training. However, it has been underpaid for significant parts.
Training/university was split up well within my programme as well as work elements.
Support is relatively limited, there is an emphasis on being independent rather than the employer holding your hand.
Good support from ICAS/University of birmingham throughout.
Limited cross over between my day to day work and studies, only a handful of my modules would impact work.
There are some, but during covid it has been difficult and the company has been slow to return to the office. Socials are very limited, and budgets seem to be tightened in recent years.

This could just be for my department, but it feels too big and uncaring. Many people leave within 3/4 years of joining, so most people I've worked with and created strong friendships with have moved on and I don't feel very attached to KPMG.
Make sure to research the role in detail. I've seen alot of people join KPMG and not realise the role & qualifications they are doing aren't right for them.
