I am the team leader for a run off project team in a busy insurance broker company. I manage my team of 6 day to day, completing HR tasks such as sickness and performance management. Also side this I delegate tasks to the my team to ensure targets are met and projects are completed in the set time.
The biggest area for improvement has been my time management and delegation skills. Through the course I have found using my diary and blocking time out for sections of work i need to do helps me manage my time more effectively. Delegating work has been difficult for me are I have always felt I needed to keep control this i am still improving but passing work out has been a lot easier.
Very much so! I find it very interesting and helpful to explore other peoples thoughts and ideas on subjects, certainly around managing people and conflict management. I feel the improvement I have made shines through in my work. Also looking into the different theories I find interesting for example Belbins team roles, to see where my team is plotting and areas i need to work to cover.
The programme is very well organised. We were given our time table of the workshops and the very start so we knew when to avoid holidays ect. The workshop themselves are relevant and engaging. And finally the BUD portal for me to upload assignments and access course documents is simple and clear to navigate.
The support is very good, my manager is always there to help with coursework when needed and also to support with my day to day work if I ever feel overwhelmed and short of time. I also have the support of my mentor who is the department director, we have monthly calls to discuss how the course is going and what I have leant and any areas I need help with.
I have a personal coach who works from raise the bar, in the most part i find her helpful and informative. however i do find it frustrating at times when work summitted takes a month or so to be marked as this would be helpful to understand any improvements that can be made before the next piece of work is due.
I feel so much more confident in dealing with anything that comes my way. I was very much lacking in self confidence to deal with conflict with my staff around performance manage and time management, however since been on the course this has completely turned around. This has also been noticed by my manager.
Most definitely!! I have been the office social champion for around 8 years organising social and charity events for the department. During covid this was difficult as we were not in the office together but i got around this with quizzes, virtual room escapes and charity raffles. I enjoy bring everyone together.
Yes
The coaches who run the workshops by far are the best thing about Raise the Bar. They are friendly and approachable, giving the workshops just the right amount of fund to keep you engaged on the full day calls. they have a huge knowledge from work experience and they allow you to share your own ideas and teach you loads more.
Do it! you have to understand before you agree that there is a lot of work to be done on your side, its not all done on the calls. But if you are willing to put the time and effort in you really do get a lot of knowledge and skills back in return.
