My role is a junior/trainee account manager. In my role i would need to help with the preparation of market submissions, collate and analyse relevant information and assist with the preparation for new business or renewals of reinsurance contracts. I also work in partnership across geographic regions to ensure client needs are met . Also , i utilise the systems that Aon uses to communicate efficiently with markets and regularly update information as and when it comes in .
Since joining Aon my team have supported me in improving upon my excel skills , they done this by arranging for me to going on a Excel course for a day where I was able to learn and implement what I had learnt to use it in my day role. In my role I have also had to learn to communicate more effectively so that I am efficient and proactive in my approach with the team and several other skills.
The Apprenticeship program at first was a huge change as i had come from sixth form to the world of work so i didn't initially anticipate the big jump and the face-paced work. However, as I have settled in i am really starting to enjoy my day to day work and my role within the team . In terms of the apprenticeship side with Davies they have facilitated my growth and i have been able to perform to a great standard after getting my head around everything . Overall the programme as a whole has been great
The programme is very well structured . However at the beggining i wasn't 100% clear on everything i had to do . But upon asking for help and after inductions calls and training i was quickly able to be brought up to speed and have been able to do well in the programme. The aptem system that we use is really easy to navigate and update and complete the tasks that we are given monthly .
My employer supports me and my career growth, along with my team as a whole. They have been easily accessible as and when i have needed them and willing to answer any questions i have. The HR team also ensure that you are feeling safe at work and check in regularly to ensure that your needs are being met and that you don't have any concerns.
My training provider constantly supports me in studies towards my qualifications as well as the tasks that come in monthly. We have a quarterly review where we are able to have a check in with them to ensure we understand and can monitor our progress etc. Also even outside of that if there are areas we need help in they have been willing to take out extra time in their day to assist where they can.
Very well , as i have found that the theory side we learn from our provider ends up coming up in my role frequently so i am able to bring the knowledge from the two together to help my overall performance and understanding of my role and what i am working towards.
I am apart of several business resource groups in Aon that have aided my growth and ability to feel a sense of belonging in the companies culture . They have networks for diversity and inclusion so that all can feel apart and valued and several others. Whenever my team or division has any social events after work I try my best to attend them .
Yes
Aon is a great stepping stone into the world of work , the life skills you can learn from doing an apprenticeship will lead you in great stead . There are countless opportunities for career growth and progression as Aon is a global company so there is always a place for you .
Just apply ! You never know where you could end up in the next 5-10 yeas . Honestly for me i saw an apprenticeship as another avenue to achieve my goals. The people you are able to meet and the overall experience is good. In terms of interviews do your research and ensure you are building upon your commercial awareness by reading financial articles and anything else that can aid your learning about the industry .
