my role in virgin media is that i am in the planning team and take part in planning fibre cabling routes to contracted customers to provide them with broadband and we work closely alongside the project management team to plan big projects also. I sometimes take part in surveys which i enjoy.
i believe i have learnt so much about telecoms having not being previously involved in the industry and also really developed my managing of points of contact when i sanction a job. my communication skills throughout different teams within the business has really progressed as i am now comfortable giving concise information to all parties involved.
I feel like i really enjoy the programme that i am on as i feel like i am develorgreping my skills as planner and my knowledge about telcoms whilst also getting a great qualifaction that has many transferrable skills that can help me to progress in my day to day role in virgin
i believe my role is well structured and i am able to clearly see my path of learning and development to the point where i will be able to work solely independently on my own jobs and take ownership for any mistakes that may occur with them, this motivates me to develop.
I believe that i get a lot of support from my employer as there are many streams of support that can guide answer any questions or fix a mistake this is also supported by my teams acceptance of failure and belief that it is necessary to learnt, his reassures me.
This in my opinion hasnt been great and students in the programme agree with this. Our "coach" has been changed a number of times and we havent been able to et consistent support when we have tried reaching out to gain knowledge on what we are doing and what content is most important and structuring of essays we have done. Communication with us lot has been poor.
I belive that the apm pmq really helps with the skills it talks about. This is because modeules such as communication is vital in my role as i am communicating regularly with many stakeholders of the jobs i undergo and having the skills to communicate effectively is vital to my role.
Virgin are very good at offering this. Only one suggestion i may have is running like a sports event for offices around the country to get involved in as i think this would be a fun and motivating day out for all involved and help build connections in the workplace.
Yes
i would reccomend as i believe they are a great place to work as i have spoken to so many people that join at such a young age and end up staying for years and that shows alot that they are a company that keep its employees happy with there job.
i think it would be to be yourself as virgin look at the skills and attributes of a person rather than qulaitfactions and i think you should be yourself as it means that if you are and get the job you will fit in so well at virgin as you hold the attributes they are looking for
