Installation of virgin media services, refault finding and repairing of the services. Customer facing role.
Developed my exisiting skillset as I have nvq's in mechanical engineering. Improved my exsisting communication ans rapport building skills
I thouroughly enjoy my role at virgin media work wise. I haven't enjoyed any aspect of the apprentiship coursework as a majority of it doesn't relate to the actual job. Nor has the provider GKA been sufficient in providing a good standard of teaching throughout. I have done several apprentiships in different roles carried out by different providers and GKA has to be the worst provider I have had.
My programme doesn't appear to be structured. All of the 'teaching' was carried out via webex/ teams. On a call with upto 20 others, to then be spoken to for 20 minutes and told to complete the work, with out being able to contact anyone for help and support.
My employer has been tremendous throughout my apprentiship. My mentor was very good at teaching me and it shines through. I.couldn't of asked for a better employer throughout
We had 1 day every 3 weeks where we had time with the provide. This time with the provider was usually around 20 minutes as a group and 15-20 minutes individually. I feel there was a serious lack on the providers side as I felt.I was always waiting for my work to be marked and there wasn't any real communication from the provider on a time length. If I could give 0 I would. I would not recommend this provider
I do not feel the qualification will help me in my role. I am already exceeding expectations within my own team and region within the buisness. I feel I have learnt more from the employer than the provider.
There aren't any extra cirricular activities as we all work different shift patterns and our days do not finish untill 7pm
Yes
So far the employer couldn't do anymore if I asked them too, I have had medical downtime for appointments, I have been fully supported through the apprentiship with time.to complete coursework when needed.
Do not apply for an apprentiship with the current provider As you will get no benefit from it.
