I am a team member, each day I could be behind the bar or running food. I also clean the pub of a morning regularly. Day to day I interact with many customers in both the bar and lounge and make sure all their needs are met and that the service we provide is excellent.
I have gained much more confidence than I had before I started this job as it forced me to interact with new people that I probably wouldn’t have done otherwise. I now feel comfortable talking and interacting with people from all walks of life and have loads more anecdotes to tell if I ever end up on Would I Lie To You?!
I am really enjoying my apprenticeship, it makes me more confident in my day to day job and gives me the knowledge I need to deal with any situation that may occur in the correct manner. The trainer is amazing and gives me all the support I need to complete the apprenticeship to a high standard.
The programme is very well organised. I usually have one session every month (which is over Teams at the moment due to COVID) in this session we go through together what I have learned over the month and also additional topics that give me useful further knowledge around the subject.
My employer provides support in any way they can for me, I am allowed the day off the day of my session so that we have all the time we need to go through the topics without rushing. They are also aiding me with the business project by helping me implement new ways to get reviews from customers.
My training provider is fantastic, she is always available if I have any questions or concerns about any topics that I may be struggling with. Even if I can not struggling I can email her with additional ideas or suggestions that may help me in my course. She couldn’t be more helpful.
My qualification gives me more confidence in my day to day job as it is all information that is relevant. For example, the last session I had was on service styles and this helped to reinforce my knowledge of how to take payments from customers and the important legal reasons for doing it this way.
We have a darts team at the pub I am working at although I am personally no good at darts! There are also coffee mornings and gin or vodka tasting nights to enjoy. I don’t personally organise these however I am often there to help out in any way I can.
Yes
I would recommend marstons to a friend because it is a fantastic company to work for that gives you opportunities to meet people you never would otherwise. Also there are things like these apprenticeships that you can take part in that can help build confidence and enrich your everyday life.
Give everything a go. If you read bingo once and hate it you don’t have to do it again but there are so many opportunities offered and you should grab all of them that you can. You will also meet many new brilliant people working for marstons and this will give you much more confidence.
