I'm a Project Manager, so my job is to manage a project from the design stage to the implementation, making sure all the day to day tasks are completed so that it can meet the requirements of the bank.
Communication skills is something I have enhanced with charing my own meetings, writing minutes etc... This has helped me develop into the role. My time mangement is something that I have had to learn fairly quickly as there was many things to manage from Project, Apprentice work, team meetings etc...
I enjoyed my programme alot, learning new things is always exciting and the assignments were a nice change from normal work.
I feel very valued at HSBC, I have been given a lot of responsibility and trust. For which I repay with my hard work and my enthusiasm to work and try new things.
I feel this is something that could be improved on. We had an issue with a Tutor early on in the programme where no work was getting marked and we weren't learning much. Since then we had a new Tutor who was a lot better than the first, whoever the workload of marking is alot and I think this could have been structured better. Also the has been no communication regarding what happens to the apprentices after they have finished the qualification, everyone has been left in the dark and means we are stuck in limbo. This should have been agreed at the start of the programme
I had to plan in my own support with the Training Provider, every other apprentice had to do this aswell, making it difficult to get the support needed to finish the apprenticeship.
I had alot of support from my Manager and my mentor in disecting the Vocational units into things I did every day and how I could get the points ticked off. I was also allowed office time to complete the assignments which was great.
I feel at the start is was a great salary, However there was no parity with the other apprentices in other teams. This makes it unfair where people are achieving better than what others are exept not getting the rewards.
There are opportunities outside of work
Yes
They have a great community within them to work for, everyone is friendly and really supportive. Although it is a massive organisation, there is alot of care taken towards everybody and the business can work round your needs
Be confident in what you say and be enthusiastic and show it when talking within the interview
