1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working with sheet and plate metal creating inserts for type 23 frigates. Grinding and repairing parts of the boat

Yeah plenty of new skills.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Yes I enjoy doing something different everyday. Learning new skills.

Very well presented and explained so we know the requirements they expect from us

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

Incredible amount of support. Any issues they are there on hand to help with. Including home life as well.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Again incredible amount of support. As someone who is older being out of school having to re learn all that for qualification but they are on hand to help with anything I struggle with.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Learning the basics is key without them we wouldn’t be able to do the job so it is very important.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

As not in the yard I wouldn’t no.

9a. Would you recommend Babcock to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

Great place to work, good competitive salary especially for younger apprentices. A job for life due to the contracts they currently hold. Good pension.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock?

Do it don’t think twice. You get a job with Babcock you’ve got a job for life on a good wage.
