I am a network analyst, my daily tasks involve checking the health of networking equipment, progressing networking related projects within my area and responding to networking incidents within my area aswell as interacting with product vendors.
I have obtained the following qualification Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and, I also have been on various internal training courses to develop interpersonal communication in the work place. There is also future training planned for technical aspects within my role. I have learnt an in depth knowledge about the networking area which I work in.
I have enjoyed the time I have spent with the team I was placed in as part of my apprenticeship, I have also enjoyed the work as it has been a new challenge in a computer area which I have a keen interest in. The company culture is generally positive and met my expectations.
I feel valued by my manager aswell as senior manager for the work I have completed and believe that the treatment I have recieved from the company has been excellent. It was a very important part of my role to be contributing to an overall team effort instead of working alone and my contributions as part of this have been valued by my team.
The training aspect of the program was an up and down experience, although this is specific to our year of apprentices within HSBC the initial tutor we recieved had to leave which set us back a few months with the work we needed to complete for the apprenticeship. The training was also initially lackluster however the replacement assessor/tutor has managed to turn this around. We were given lots of support on the program from within our own team and from the people running the apprenticeship internally. We had our own in team mentors who were able to dedicate time to my needs within the role.
The level of support has been stronger towards the end of the apprenticeship, as the initial tutor was replaced with a different one this took a large amount of time which led to a frustrating period of transition. Following this transition the level of support has been reasonable. However it was often hard to arrange time with the tutor/assessor when nearing the end of the apprenticeship which often made it hard to schedule aroung my own work.
The support I have recieved from my employer has been excellent, my manager has fully supported me during the apprenticeship and allowed me time to work on my apprenticeship work aswell as providing the evidence such as witness testimony needed as evidence. I have never had to escalate anything to HR regarding my employment. Support and guidance with issues from my own manager has been great and he has been able adapt and support me.
My salary package meets my costs adequately considering my expenses.
There are lots of oppertunities within the organisaion outside of work, these include bussiness socials, team socials, sporting events, festive events such as halloween and fireworks nights. There is also voluntary initiatives within the bank, some especially geared towards apprentices such as the brathay challenge.
Yes
It is a great place to work and it is a foot in the door to a strong career.
