I am currently supporting project managers doing different activities like drafting emails, setting up meetings, and reviewing material/content on Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint slideshows. I also help with client murals. They also encourage learning and development, and I can self-enroll in different courses through the company portal or other platforms like Udemy.
I have been introduced to new software such as Alteryx and PowerBI and expanded my skills. My skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word have drastically improved. I have also used Tableau, Empowerment, and organised group activities through Microsoft Teams to improve collaboration. My communication and organisational skills have also developed.
Every day is different in terms of your scope of work, which makes the experience refreshing. You are constantly learning something new and there are many opportunities to network and meet other people in your field. Managers are supportive of your apprenticeship and help to maintain a balance between work and studies.
The structure of the programme is well organised and you are informed in advance of any upcoming modules and deadlines. You are assigned a counsellor at work and a skills coach through the training provider so there is always support available. The programme is structured from beginner to advanced to help your apprenticeship journey.
My employer always assigns a counsellor to each employee. You have regular monthly meetings and catch-ups with them about your workload and studies. They provide a reliable source of support through your apprenticeship journey and can help introduce you to other managers who specialise in a module you are studying.
The training provider assigns you to a skills coach who is there to support you every step of the way of your apprenticeship journey. They are readily available through email and you have regular monthly meetings with them to review your progress. Module tutors are always available through support through email also.
Many modules in the qualification are relevant to my role and I can apply the knowledge and skills learnt from the courses into reality when working on different projects. There are also workshops provided to help with my written and communication skills which are transferable to use in the office daily.
There are a variety of networking groups, sports teams and social activities you are able to join depending on your interests. Virtual coffee chats randomly assigned within your team are also encouraged on a monthly basis. There are also apprenticeship related workshops you can join to meet other apprentices and hear from guest speakers.
Yes
I would recommend EY to a friend since the work culture and values are open-minded and welcoming to everyone. It is an invaluable experience, and they provide lots of opportunities to work on client projects and network with lots of people. Overall, I am highly satisfied working here and would encourage anyone to apply.
Make sure to research EY in-depth, especially their values and future goals. It is important you have a lot of background information to support why you would like to work for them and how you see yourself adding value. Always be honest throughout the application and showcase your personality to stand out from the crowd.
