  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I'm step-up team leader as well as sales champion my role is to promote our business and look after sales as well as help my team to achieve the best possible outcome. I'm involved in opening and closing the business and look after cash management on my shift. I help my team to learn new skills and new briefs send to us.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I'm new to hospitality so I learned a lot. In 10 months working in the company I learned how to open the business and start the tills, I learned how to manage cash. I developed new skills like how to manage my team on the shift, how to resolve the issues with in the team and I'm still learning about the business in's and out's.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really appreciate people helping me with my projects and my program is very useful. My mentor is [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] she is absolutely amazing teacher. She is always there if I need her and the program helps me develop new skills and knowledge about hospitality. I really enjoying my apprenticeship and working with new people.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My program is well organised. I have meeting once a month with my mentor but I have lots of time to do work I have been given, and if I need help my mentor is always on end of the phone. The program shows me how hospitality works step by step.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very helpful. He helps me with day-to-day tasks and helps me to develop new skills in my current role as step-up team leader. He is very understanding and if I need help he willing to do what is necessary to help me. I can always count on him.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My lifetime training provider is very good I have a lot of options to contact any helpline. My mentor is a big support for me in my working towards the new career and qualifications. The helpline is available 24h and 7 days a week. I can email them and time day or night.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think any help is important and useful. I learned from all materials I been given and staff I been shown. My knowledge progression is very challenging and encouraging because I love to learn new things and this program show me how to do that step by step . I just love every bit of my program.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes they are. For example we are promoting Mother's Day at the moment because is very important event. As the sales champion my responsibility is to look after all professionals networking like Facebook and Instagram as well as face to face communication with customers to promote our business. Displays and feet on street are one of the most popular social activities as well as face to face meeting with other teams.

  • Whitbread is very friendly company. They understand how important it is to progress and develop new skills. They understand family comes first and how important is your culture. They very flexible and they willing to help you progress in any step u start. They trying to look after their business how they can.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • Whitbread is flexible and helpful in any situation you are in. They respect their responsibility and brands standards. Show them what you can do and they will help you to progress and become more proactive and confident. Help them and they will help you. Friendly attitude is life changing game.
