Technical Presales Specialist Review

My role is a Technical presales specialist. In this role, I assist partners in IAAS/SAAS/PAAS solutions, and provide pricing/guidance for these solutions. I am also required to learn and be knowledgeable in Microsoft products to be able to enable partners technically and help them with any queries. This involves attending training courses and completing learning modules to enhance my understanding.

Yes, the apprenticeship covers topics I have not covered before and having come from a non-technical background it has therefore provided a foundation of understanding for the work I do on a daily basis and enhanced my knowledge further. For topics I did already have understanding of, it has reinforced my learning.

I enjoy the programme as it has allowed me to learn and develop further and having come from a non technical background, doing the apprenticeship will show that I have the level of knowledge and understanding to assist partners in their technical queries and may give them further reassurance. It is great that Tech Data offer programmes to develop their staff. It has also allowed me to take part in different courses that I may not have covered in my usual learning.

There were a few teething problems in the beginning as it was the first time that this particular apprenticeship programme has ran. But any issues have been resolved fairly quickly and it is running much more smoothly now. Any feedback we have given towards has been listened to, to help improve the experience.

Tech Data have been extremely supportive throughout. I have been able to manage my apprenticeship and my work hours accordingly and dedicate time when needed during busier periods or if I have exams etc. Management are always encouraging and helpful as they really believe in supporting employees and helping them to learn and develop further.

I have received plenty of support during the apprenticeship programme. I have regular contact with a development coach via teams who helps me with any questions/problems that I may have and helps me to stay on track. He also keeps us up to date with where we are up to and what we need to do next.

It has helped enhance my knowledge further to support my daily job role and has allowed me to learn a variety of topics that I may not have covered had I not taken part in the apprenticeship programme. The apprenticeship is giving me a foundation of understanding that will help towards my career development.

Unfortunately due to covid regulations, extra curricular activities were put on hold. But I am hopeful that these will start again in due course. We have seen the return of office bingo and general knowledge quizzes so far where winners receive a prize. Before covid, there were often team nights out, events ran by vendors, christmas parties and there was also a social club you could sign up to that held regular events such as bowling/nights out and other activities.
