In my role not every day is the same, for example 1 day I may be in the office and the next out on site which is something that interested me about the role. However, the main responsibility of the role is to manage the spend of the project and to keep these costs as low as possible to evidently make the most profit for Balfour Beatty and the project. I also have some strong involvement in the procurement of subcontractors and the formation of the subcontracts.
I am learning new and developing existing skills every day. The main ones being: 1. Time Management 2. Dispute Resolution 3. Collaboration
I enjoy the programme very much. There are hard days now and again but that comes with every job role. Balfour Beatty support you with everything and push you to develop yourself in every way. A good example is them putting me through DofE Gold.
Very well organised, they have clear structures of when I will be learning and when I will be working and again are willing to support you and give you that time to complete your education commitments.
Every task I complete is supported by not only my line manager but my project and Balfour Beatty as a whole.
Northumbria university are willing to give you the time to complete all of your assignments and will put you through any further qualification to help you develop within your role such as CICES and RICS.
I think overall the qualification forces me to ask questions within my team that I would not usually ask. However my day to day learning helps me more with the qualification.
Yes there is, I am currently going through my DofE gold, as well as the Apprentice challenge which again is really useful with resilience, team work and collaboration. The project I work on also creates 5 a side football teams as well as having some commercial away days.
Yes
Balfour Beatty are willing to support you through anything, they are keen to get you qualified and the experience that comes with the role is hands on. You are seen as an employee rather than 'the Apprentice'.
I would suggest to gain any work experience you can and connect in with others within the industry.
