I split my day between site work and office work. I produce reports at my desk and help with data analysis, and my site work is helping out with Quality Inspections.
I have done both. I have learnt new skills since since starting this job such as how to inspect and how to act in a professional environment and I have also developed my existing skills such as computer skills and report writing.
I enjoy it very much as it is the perfect balance of being able to learn and work at the same time. I believe this is the ideal way to grow professionally.
The programme is fairly well structured, sometimes sessions will not be for a week and then we have 6 hours on a Friday, which is hardly ideal as I would much rather them be spread through the week. Other than that, I am fairly satisfied.
A fair amount, they engage with the programme and like to stay updated with the progressions.
The training provider offers help sessions that can be organised by ourselves. However, other than that, the training provider makes no further proactive arrangements on our behalf.
I feel it is a very beneficial qualification and having it will greatly improve my chances of developing in the industry. I have used what I have learned for my role so I believe it has helped my professional development.
There are a few extra activities available at work. Charity football events, team night out and lunches to name a few, and networking events are available from the High Speed Rail Group.
Yes
They offer a lot of resources for professional development, they ease you into the role and give you a lot of support and really seem to care about your growth.
Have an open mind, and give it time. Balfour Beatty is a big company with many roles to offer, and there is bound to be a role that is suited to most people. No two days are ever the same at Balfour Beatty.
