  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • You will be expected to have a full day of level 3 BTEC learning on a monday, but between Tuesday to friday we learn a foundation level of mechatronics on a practical and theory basis.

  • In the small amount of time within the apprentiship I have been able to learn a variety of new and exciting skills ranging from electronics, electrical, hand fitting, milling and welding

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The overall programme has been extremely fun and engaging to learn the skills that will be invaluable for my future careere path.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The learning provider has given us a huge access to resources and talent amongst the programme however there have been many occasions where learning has been delayed onset or simply poorly planned for time to complete it in an effective manner. The quality of the lectueres can vary dramatically

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been extremely supportive, they have been continuosly checking up on myself throughout the programme, routine meetigns to discuss progress and overall wellbeing and always creating alternative arrangments for needs to be met even when not available personally. alongside ensure extra carricular activies are present to help enhance the course

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There are massive support channels amongst the programme, within BTEC you can take spare time to sit with some lectuers for assitance and there never is the feel of you can ask a stupid question. Within the foundation section there is a huge level of paper support and guidance towards your practical skills with the feel they wouldnever liek to see you fail.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has helped me greatly improve both existing and new skills to a point i woudl feel compfortable to use them in a workign envroment. But as well as the fundamental skills its also helped in additional areas such as understandign buisness improvments and how I can apply health and saftey better in areas of work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are various temas that are avaible to join and participate in such as newletter and charity teams. Alongside outside excursions from work however these have not been made obviously avaiable within my first year

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company itslef shows to value its employees even ones that have onyl been there for a short period of time. The staff are welcomign and friendly with a sense of community aand support. Alongside this the insentives and additional beneifits form the role are a huge perosnal and finacial bonus.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Be prepared to wait, in that the application process does take time but they will get back to you. Have an open mind towards the new people you will be with as a lot of them are in or have been in the same position as yourself so they know how your feeling one way or another. When in the role be prepared for long days if learning continues to take place in oxford as its not a simple 9-5 as commuting can add some considerable time to yoru day and to strongly encourage car sharing to make life a bit easier.
