On a day to day basis I come to the Onsight training school to do my training before I go into the plant. I am a first year apprentice and this what I have to do before doing my placements in the different departments around the plant.
I have learnt many skills when doing the different engineering rotations such as welding and wiring up components. I never was able to do this before I came but with help from the tutors i have developed new skills.
Since I have started the apprentice I have met many different people and they are all so welcoming and the programme is very good in helping each apprentice develop there knowledge and skills. Therefore I really enjoy the programme
The organisation is of the programme is to a good standard, but there is always room for improvement.
I receive a lot of support from my employer they are always around to ask for help and they are never short of time for apprentices they always help wherever possible giving us different opportunities
We do receive a lot of support from the tutors downstairs in the workshop but during our study day on Monday I think there is a lack of support from the teaching side of things.
The training provider does help me perform better in role, the tutors down in the workshop are very good at helping all apprentices achieve there goals and they help us understand each rotation.
There are many extra curricular activities to get involved in here at BMW group but due to COVID 19 they have been postponed but I think they are starting to open back up again therefore there will be a lot more opportunities for first year apprentices.
