  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • While working in Project Controls i have gained experience in different functions within the business unit. The areas i have worked in include risk management, planning, reporting and change management. My day-to-day role involves a lot of communication with the project team who provide me with data which i use to ensure the team is on track and performing well. The data also is a good indicator to show potential issues that might have an impact on the project.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes 100%. I have learnt many new skills that have helped with my knowledge of construction and also processes used within the industry. Mace also provide their apprentices with training programmes at the start of each year where you work on your softer skills and also technical construction knowledge.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have worked on 4 different projects since starting with Mace and I have enjoyed every single one. The apprenticeship programme is well structured and gives you the opportunity to work on different projects.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship programme at Mace is organised and structured well. You are given a yearly training programme at the start of each year where you have sessions to develop new skills and also learn about construction. You are also given a portfolio to complete throughout the duration of your apprenticeship which enables you to reach out to people in the business and gain a wider understanding of different roles and processes.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received a lot of support since starting with Mace through the role of a mentor, a buddy, line managers and colleagues. The talent team at Mace also do regular check in's to ensure everyone is doing ok and there are no issues .

  • My training provider has been supportive throughout my apprenticeship and they have been teaching me relevant content that i can apply at work.

  • My qualification's content is all relevant with my day-to-day role at Mace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many opportunities to get involved with other than your day job at Mace. My project has regular informal get together's where activities as a team. Mace also offer a variety of different networks that you can sign up to and get involved with their network events/socials. The business unit i am apart of also do social events that you can get involved with.
