I work mainly with complex clients my role is to care for them in all aspects of life as they are not able to do it themselves. This can be personal care, toileting, ordering medication, ordering new stock and supplies as well as feeding my client and taking them out.
Yes i have learnt a lot of new skills through the company I work with there has been on going training and through doing my NVQ this has also taught me alot of new skills and how to better do my job as a carer to the best of my ability
I throughourly enjoy carer in general to be able to make a difference in some body else's life make me feel like I'm making that small difference. With the programme that I'm doing I know that I am expanding my knowledge as a carer so that I can help more people with more complex conditions
I haven't done a huge amount of different programmes so I have nothing to compare it to. However the way this has been set it absolutely great it works well for me and works well around the work I do. It's simple to understand and there is a lot of support along the way
Unfortunately I do not receive as much support from my employer as I would have liked. There were a few things I mentioned to my company when I started this apprenticeship that I would need support and guidance with and I haven't had any of the support I needed
The support from my training provider is absolutely exceptional I've never had any problem at all even when I was doing my Functional skills for English and Maths all the help and support was there for me to reach my goal and to complete what was needed for me
I feel that my qualification will and has helped me a lot in my role as a carer it's given me a much better out look on care and the care industry I've loved doing the program and have a goal set now to do even better in the future
Again unfortunately not. At my work it seems that it's all about work there should be things or at least opportunities to do some sort of team building or days where we get to know our office staff better. I know its hard as we are care company but it's not impossible
No
Like I said previously it's all about work work work. There is a lack of professionalism within the management of the company and the office staff. They over work their carers and they get very rude when you decline work because you need some time off. The care itself that they provide to the service user is exceptional however it us carers that don't get treated correctly
Don't tell them that you are always available because they will hold you to it. Tell them that because it's a zero hour contract you are not liable to work insane hours and you will choose the work you want and need. You also need your own time to work on yourself and have a life
