I am audit trainee in the financial services sector. This involves working on audits for companies such as insurance providers, banks and asset managers. I interact with colleagues and clients in order to receive tasks and request information and audit evidence. I also interact with third parties, such as bank, in order to obtain third party information, such a bank account valuation. My responsibilities include performing audit work on various sections and obtaining information that will allow us to do this.
The most important new skill that I have gained is basic accounting knowledge, which will increase in due course as I take more exams. My knowledge of the financial services sector has increased dramatically with internal training and experience at work. My communication in a professional environment has improved.
I enjoy my work and I have learnt a lot. The teams that I work with are friendly and understanding of my job role. I think that the job has met my expectations and I am able to increase my responsibilities when I would like.
I feel that my performance is rated fairly and that I get recognition from colleagues when I perform good work.
Internal training is structured very well and my exam schedule fits in with my work well. 8i have lots of support when it comes to exams.
My tutor is accessible and can answer questions I have about my course or provide support with any doubts.
I receive a lot of support from my employer and they have a good attitude towards exams and career development. They are keen to see me improve.
Living costs in London are exceptionally high and although the salary is higher due to this, it is still a little difficult. However, salary will increase on an annual basis throughout the process.
There are socials held outside of work and there are sports teams and other groups, such as the musicals group. There are often opportunities to get involved in other events such as recruitment days.
Yes
I think that it has a nice atmosphere and offers the flexibility to fit your job to the level of responsibility that you would like. There are plenty of opportunities to challenge yourself.
I would say that research is the key. You should have good knowledge about what you are applying for and why you would like to take on the job role.
