Taking on Admin type roles. Using programmes like SAP, Power Bi and SharePoint to help price anything thats missing. And to help build contracts for new or existing customers. Regularly answering emails and phone calls from team members and liaising with my fellow apprenticeship friends in the same cohort as me.
Yes i have learnt new skills and have developed existing skills. I have developed my skills in writing emails more formally and have developed my skills in networking with people around the business. I have learnt new skills by learning new programs that I have never used before like SAP4HANA, Power Bi and SharePoint.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme. There have been a few ups and downs regarding the teams I have been in. Sometimes the workload wasn't enough and I wasn't praised for what I was doing in the team however after moving teams, this problem was fixed. I now enjoy working with the people in my team.
Id say the programme is structured very well from the business side of things however, from the college side it isnt structured well at all. College days are not consistent and neither are the masterclass days where we are told to complete assignments. It is hard for us to tell our managers whtat days we have college because they are never on the same day. we dont get taught the basics of business in our lessons either.
Id say the support from our employer is consistent. Even though my training manager works half of the week, job sharing with another employee, i receive great support. I am reassured that problems are going to be fixed if i am not enjoying my placement. They are also there if i have any issues going on at home and are very supportive.
Not a lot at all. When stuck on certain topics of business we are told to read the textbook instead of being taught it in person. We are essentially teaching ourselves and the college dont seem to be doing anything about it which is a shame. No matter how many times we complain to the college nothing gets done.
I dont feel that being taught in college is helping me perform my role better at all. If anything we are all tecahing each other in the cohort because there is no support. This will have an effect on our end grades because we wouldnt have learnt anything. Something needs to be done.
I have taken part in many extra curricular activities during my time here at Leonardo. I am part of the STEM committee so am taking part in the Work Experience programme. I have also taken part in Cool Aero day and Flying start challenge which involved me teaching children in schools.
Yes
Leonardo is a great business to get an apprenticeship in. Every team that you join is appreciative towards you and feel that apprentices help massively with the company. The support from traning is great and everyday is different work-wise. Everyday is also very busy and you learn something new all the time.
Don't give up! The application process is difficult. I applied 2 years on the go and showing the people who interviewed me that it wasn't the first time I applied showed the determination I had for working for this company. Know your facts and figures when Appling too. It'll impress the people interviewing you.
