As a home service engineer within the broadband tech team, I visit customers houses across Ayrshire and out with to provide good customer service and solve their broadband issues. From changing sockets, connecting sky Q equipment to replacing Hubs.
Over time I have developed many skills, my main one being confidence and communication which enables me to provide great customer service to the customers I deal with everyday. I’ve also developed skills to help me identify broadband/wifi issues within customer properties.
I love my job and enjoy the content within the programme. I find it great how it’s a mix of both at home learning through self study or Teams, as well as out in the field hands on learning. It allows you to put into practice what you’re learning.
The programme has been very well structured in terms of assignments etc. Each month there are catchup reviews where you take part in professional discussions to complete certain units, as well as doing some self study to add to this.
My employer is very supportive of the apprenticeship and if you’re struggling they will always offer you a hand or extra study time if needed. My manager is great with the apprentices and always offers his support to us, as well as all my colleagues.
My training provider has been amazing At keeping us upto date and ensuring I’m meeting units. Each meeting I have with my training provider I get an overview of how well I’m doing and get to physically see my progress on the learning assistant app which helps me to know what I need to work on.
I feel my learning provider has enabled me to perform better in my role from getting me to complete certain things, such as my PDP and smart goals. These allow me to look back and reflect and see what I can do better in practice.
Due to covid there has been little extra curricular activities for the team, but as things begin to get less restricted, we have planned a dinner for all of us to get together and interact.
