I start my day by querying and replying to emails. Usually this includes seeing if we have been sent information from both the client and contractor and acting accordingly. I am either on site or in the office and in between meetings to progress or change the program logistics and handling.
My office 365 skills have imporved greatly, especially excel as I now have to use it a lot which has forced me to learn more. My confidence in meeting has increased as I am more used to meeting and working with new people as well. I also have improved my technical skills through uni.
I like the exposure and knowledge i am gaining from being in a professional environment. i learn something new every day and I am always being challenged. However, I do not feel like my salary justifies the amount of work I end up doing. Outside of my role, the emerging talent team takes good care of the apprentices.
My program gives me enough support to bridge the gap between a-levels and the professional work environment. My concerns are always taken into account and my happiness in the role is always put at the forefront of all the work that I am doing. There is also regular check ins t encourage clarity.
There are people all around me who are willing to help both within and outside of my team. None of my questions are overlooked and when I am assigned work it is in line with my personal and professional development. I know I can always find support in whatever environment I am working in on the day.
Even though my course is all online, the staff at the University are always willing to help and support my learning in the current modules. They always offer to go through assignments and help me improve in time for the next assessment to make sure that I boost my grade.
Even though my course is in construction management and my role is in project management, the two go hand in hand. I am able to directly apply my knowledge from university to help me with my day to day role. It also allows me to share with my colleagues what I am learning.
We have internal networks that host sessions in regards to diversity and inclusion such as the pride network, parents at mace and the ethnic diversity inclusion network.I am involved with the EDIN and pride network. There are also social events every now and then both from Mace and external organisations.
