  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as a business administrator is primarily office based. It is a customer facing role and includes frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders. Most of my daily tasks include ordering stationary, handling PPE, filing, dealing with visitors, handling queries and questions regarding the facility.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My communication and social skills have developed greatly since the start of my apprenticeship, as I have faced challenges such as creating and delivering presentations to groups of people, as well as answering questions and assisting individuals both internally and externally to the business.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme is enjoyable as I have been challenged and had the opportunity to do things I didn't realise I could do. There have been better times than others throughout this process but overall I do not regret my experience as my professional skills have developed greatly.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Overall, I feel like there could have been more structure to my programme. Due to COVID19 I understand the struggle, however I felt the decisions that were made about placements were last minute and I was the last to find out. This has been raised and hopefully improved for future.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager has been so supportive through the entire process. She is always willing to talk and listen to anything I have to say. Her effort to providing me with support throughout my apprenticeship is unmatched. When I have had a mentor, they are helpful and happy to assist me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get a good amount of support when completeing training or assignments, there is always someone on hand to help and assist me when I need it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the training and assignments I have completed are mostly relevant to my role and I have had to take aspects of what I have learnt and apply in in my daily professional life.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of events held by the apprentice school within the organisation that everyone is encouraged to get involved in. These range from charity activities, to residential teambuilding events. There is also a club that is run by apprentices which organise events that people can get involved in.

  • 9a. Would you recommend AWE to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • A good company to work for after your apprenticeship as most apprentices outturn into the company, with lots of benefits and learning opportunities to improve and work on your professional skills. Opportunities for a lot of training and not difficult to progress and move round the company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AWE?
  • Confidence in yourself and your skillset is key, make sure to let them know what you can bring to the company. Also be yourself and never be afraid to ask for help or guidance.
