On a day-to-day basis my role involves performing work on panel pressing tools. On these we perform tasks like modifications, general checking and fixing tools when they break down during production.
I have learned a variety of skills such as machining, welding and hand fitting.
I really enjoy my program it is full of a wide variety of jobs and I find that I am constantly learning new things. The team are friendly and very helpful.
For the most part everything is well organised and structured although there have been issues on the college end of things due to construction, covid-19, etc.
BMW provides us with all the support we need we just need to ask the right questions and seek support. If you want support but don't seek it its unlikely you'll get it.
Swindon college tries their best to be as helpful as possible while we are working towards our qualification. They offer extra sessions for maths as it becomes difficult and other support for education can be found on site as well.
I feel that my qualifications do help to a certain degree. They've taught me the basic skills needed as we moved from the college into work life.
There are plentiful events that we are able to get involved with such as different charity events that are held, the mountain challenge, etc.

BMW is a really good place to work. The team are amazing and are willing to laugh with you and have deep conversations if needed. They are very supportive and non judgemental. The work is good too its very interesting and varies greatly. There are plenty of opportunities if you look in the right place for them.
