  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently I am involved across various parts of the Cloud Enablement Team. I am a content manager of our CET portal, which consists of creating news posts and updating content upon requests from the team. I also shadow some cloud engagement consultants calls with LoBs and distribute notes following these. I am involved in various engineering projects, learning about deploying resources in Azure portal. I am also involved in our compliance team, where I pull and distribute compliance reports to our LoBs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a massive amount of technical skills, through working on Azure portal and attending various training. For example, I took part in Azure Fundamentals training and Azure DevOps training upon joining the team. I have developed my communication skills the most, by distributing internal comms on teams and mailing skills using outlook 365. I have also developed my collaboration skills by working with so many different people across the team on various projects.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my program as I am getting exposure across the entire team and exploring different options for which areas I am most interested in. I am also enjoying being involved across lots of different projects and activities within the team, as I am always involved with different teams and am not lost on things to do!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My program is very organised. I have set days and weekly calls with people to keep me on track each week. My manager, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], also has catch-ups with me each week to go over work from both in the team and any apprentice work or projects I am working on. I also have an entire day out a week to focus solely on apprentice work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employer. I have frequent touch bases with different team members who always ensure I am on track, but are all contactable by email or teams IM when needed. My team always make sure I have enough time put aside for apprentice work, by ensuring I have at least one day set aside for apprentice work and any additional time when needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have constant support and meeting with my learning mentor regarding projects within the apprenticeship. I receive learning materials through Certmaster Learn before an exam to prep me on high level knowledge. This prepares me for the live training course (in person or virtual) that we get to attend for 2 to 3 days to go over course content in depth with an instructor. They also provide me with practice exams to get ready to sit the real exam and get the qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has provided me with both technical and social skills knowledge. The digital skills award has improved my communication within the team. My technical knowledge has rapidly developed, some of the content isn't so relevant to my role as we work in the cloud, but is still useful to have within the IT industry moving forwards in my career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am frequently involved in TechInc, our inclusion network who have various calls and 'lunch and learns' to get people of all different cultures and teams together to discuss fun topics each month. My team also do a fun monthly breakout challenge, where someone has a quiz/game to get the team working together. We also make sure we socialise in the office on lunch breaks.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel like part of a family - I am always supported within my team and know I have so many people to reach out to for help in different areas. It is also a great place for growth, as there are so many different paths to follow within WTW and plenty of different opportunities to take, especially being a global company, getting to speak to people across the world on a daily basis.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions - the best way to learn in this company is by asking questions and developing your skillset further than just your role. Be open to trying different things and working with different people on projects to get the most out of not only your skills but utilising other people.
