On a day-to-ay basis I start by going through emails and sorting through all my set tasks for the day. Most of these tasks include reviewing draft documents and proof reading them and checking on court proceedings to see what stage the case has reached and then notify our client.
The programme has provided me with many opportunities to network and form connections with other professionals in the legal sector through various social events. I have had the chance to speak with senior associates, partners, and heads of divisions of firms through this apprenticeship which has been insightful into the different paths that can be taken into the legal sector. Also, I believe I have become a more logical and critical thinker through the cases I have worked on which have made me a better legal professional.
To a large extent, I enjoy the programme as my colleagues are friendly and helpful. Although the work, can be sometimes slow it is interesting reading up on case files and be able to voice my opinions to my colleagues on our advice to the client as well as next action.
Well with adhering to with covid restrictions in the workplace for the working part of the programme has been a bit of a challenge but my programme has stayed well organised in ensuring I get the fullest experience possible. It has still been beneficial coming into the office where I can still learn about the organisation, its systems, and its protocol.
One of the benefits from an apprenticeship with DWF has been the amount of support that is available within the programme particularly within the academic side to the apprenticeship where we have been provided will academic mentors that help with keeping you on track with the syllabus and ensuring you understand the topics with bi-weekly sessions. And even the team I work within have been very supportive and friendly allowing me to feel comfortable and the transition into an office setting easier.
My training provided has provided me with numerous materials and access to many resources in which aid me in my studies and in attaining my end of programme qualifications. I am able to be in constant communication with my tutors as they are always available to assist at any time.
A lot of what I learn from my training provider is theory based and so I am provided with that knowledge that comes from my qualification to be more commercially aware in my role on new guidelines that take into effect that can impact the workplace or and the work I produce.
Yes, there are always several fundraisers happening with my work's foundation. I have participated and helped with bake sales, raffles and mile run's in order to help our local communities as well as charities my work is in partnership with. Also, social events for networking particularly aimed at young people are organised.
Yes
working within a large international firm such as DWF there are so many skills to develop and improve on and I knew the opportunities with a firm such as: DWF would be wide. They provide so many opportunities to network and form connections with other professionals in the legal sector
Make sure that their values are similar to yours and that you have researched well into the firm to know that you want to be apart and help their community. Also, to be ready to work hard and become more independent as they will set you to carry out tasks early on.
