we go into the workshop and at different speeds we work on the jobs we have been set and we will also be doing one day of college each week. On Monday and Tuesday I go into the workshop and get on with the jobs in my booklet, on Wednesday I have college and on the Thursday I'm back into the workplace and Friday is an admin day.
yes, many different engineering skills and techniques. Before this apprenticeship I had never worked on machines or knew any engineers skills, I've learned how to fully operate a machine safely and how to work out the correct speeds I need to run my machine at. I've also briefly learned about a mill.
I enjoy it a good amount. At the start of the apprenticeship I enjoyed it mainly because I was working from home so it slowly got me into full time work. When I got into the workshop I struggled to enjoy it as it was very slow and a little boring.
It is not awfully structured but there has been a lot of people that has been set back due to covid, also there is a lot of people in the workshop and not many instructors so it is hard to get an instructor to help sometimes. Overall the structure is pretty good.
I get the support I need at any time, and it does not matter what I need help with because every employer will help me and others if it is needed. The employers are always around to help and will never say no when you ask for help, they also provide great support if you are nervous to talk to someone and make it easy to ask for help.
I get all the support I need whenever I need it, also my training provider will help everyone whether it is in the workshop, somewhere else on site or even if it's off site. I feel like I can go to my training provider and talk to him at anytime about anything.
I feel like it helps a lot as I am a bit of a slower learner and he helps me exactly how I need to be helped and does it so I understand what he is telling me and I will usually go away knowing what I am doing or learning something new.
I do not know of any extra-curricular activities but they take us on trips to different places I would never of gone to and it is usually all paid for by them. I know my employees have done stuff outside of work and occasionally work have something going on for charity.
Yes
The pay is really good depending on your situation outside of work, they also have a great pension plan that starts as soon as you start working. The people here are really good and easy to talk to, the working hours are really good and the annual leave amount is great.
Check for transport when applying because depending on where you live as the work hours can differ, also make sure you want to apply. Try apply as soon as possible as some job roles are a lot more popular than other roles, but all job roles are good and well supported.
