From 9 until 5:30 each we perform various tests on companys financial accounts to determine whether these are correct. This usually involves daily calls with your team to update on work and calls for coaching on how to perform this testing. This testing also usually involves communication with the client asking them for evidence to back up their financial accounts.
Yes, I have improved my team working skills and communication skills, this has developed naturally by having meetings each day. Also my general computer and excel skills have improved hugely like how to use different excel formulas and shortcuts. Finally, my knowledge of audit and accounting has improved as I can actually see what I've learnt in university in practice.
I enjoyed the programme very much as the work I was doing was very engaging and challenging. Also, I enjoyed working in teams, meeting lots of people from different backgrounds and developing my skills. The only thing I didn't enjoy is looking for work for long periods of time.
The programme was well organised as I knew exactly when I was would be training and then when I would be starting work from meetings and emails. Also, it was well organised as I had support in place throughout the whole of placement with a programme champion, a buddy and a career coach. Additionally, I received instructions for what I had to do when finishing my placement
Lots of support as I always felt part of a team and that I could contact anyone on the team. Also, I had a career coach, buddy and a flying start champion that I could contact. I had regular meetings with my career coach and buddy to check up on how I was doing. I also had a programme leader who I knew I could contact if I needed anything.
I had a lot of support from my training provider as they have informed me as to what I need to do and how to pass. Also, I know that I can reach out to them anytime I need to for questions and they are always happy to help me.
My qualification (although only partly complete) has allowed me to have a better understanding of my work and understand the accounting better. Therefore, I feel like I am better at my role as I can look for certain errors and perform testing better. I feel like this will only get better as my qualification goes on.
Yes there a few. There are social events fairly often like office drinks, end of month drinks, team lunches, team socials, programme socials and office balls. However, sports teams haven't been mentioned to me which is something I would like to get involved in. Also, I am aware that there are several different clubs.
Yes
I would recommend this because it is great experience of the working world by working with a big four accounting firm as I have developed lots of different skills, met lots of new, people, got to experience a different city and got closer to my qualification whilst doing all that.
I would say that it is well worth applying as it is a great opportunity and it should be at least considered as one of your options. Advice I would give is that I think people with good communication skills and people skills are best suited to pwc. It also helps to have good excel skills
