  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The training that I am receiving and the tasks I am carrying out are exactly what I would be carrying out when employed in a full time role in the bank. This gives me confidence that I will be an asset to the team once I have completed my appreticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The initial zoom induction was very good and was a great base for starting with the bank. Following on from that, the training / structure in the bank has been mixed as staff are extremely busy. However, when I am assigned tasks, all staff are very accommodating when it comes to my questions.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There are plenty of options of support in the bank including information that is available on the banks Intranet site. In addition to this, there are numerous members of staff that I can speak to within the bank including other apprentices and my line manager. In addition to this, there are anonymous reporting lines in the bank for any issues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have monthly check ins with my training provider and the deadlines for workbook submissions have all been made very clear to me. The advisor has great person skills and I feel comfortable going to them if I have any questions concerning my apprenticeship and am confident that they can come to a good conclusion.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The workbooks and the training that I have received so far is very aligned with the role that I am currently carrying out within the bank and helps build upon the skills that I am learning whilst on the job. The questions asked in the workbook help me take extra care in the work I am carrying out during the day

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The bank is always holding network events which are more external. However, there was a Christmas night out this year and there have been other social activities. One of which was a pub quiz that was arranged by me and another apprentice. In addition to that, there has been availability to go on volunteer days with other co workers and carry out tasks such as tree planting.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Since starting in the bank, there has been a real effort to include apprentices into the company and make us feel welcome. In addition to this, the company really tries to look out for its members of staff in terms of listening to their problems and trying to solve them. Mental wellbeing is always touch on especially from director and management level which creates a good environment to work in.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Make sure to really read up on the companies values and really look over the hints and tips that the recruitment team send onto you prior to any interview. When in an interview I used the STAR method of answering questions and I tried to seem sociable on the call and have a chat with the interviews. Its a job where you will be working in teams and with customers so I felt it was good to relax a little in the interview and show that social side.
