With a career in Relationship management, there are no two days that are exactly the same. Some of the regular daily tasks would be, attending meetings and taking meeting notes, answering customer emails and taking customer phone calls. You will have daily interactions with your Relationship Manager as their assistant and you may have to answer a few external emails each day. You can be given different project such as cleansing a portfolio or writing up meeting notes. Its a very varied day to day role which helps keep you on your toes as you are constantly learning different things.
I am currently learning about the Climate Change policies for the company and how these are progressing over the next few years. I am also looking to take a course offered on this to help further my knowledge. I have learned different skills such as how to write professional emails, and how to work Zoom as this was not something that I had used before. You also have different training opportunities by looking into the learning the company has to offer.
I am thoroughly enjoying the program with NatWest group. I enjoy the work that I take part in even though I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting into when I applied for the apprenticeship. The company is very welcoming as a whole and offer my different inclusivity networks which allow you to meet different people within the organisation. The team that I work in are also very welcoming and approachable when asking for help.
The induction was very well organised and the early careers team took great care in explaining how NatWest operate and allowed for Networking with fellow apprentices before meeting your own team. There is also training offered frequently by the early careers team and with some guest speakers these are very informative and allow discussion. I often have meeting with my line manager to support me and to offer guidance and training on tasks i either haven't done in a while or haven't done before. My line manager is very good at delegating tasks and at allowing me to say that I have too many tasks as well.
I feel that my manager and my wider team are extremely supportive. They frequently ask how the apprenticeship is going and asking if I need further support from them or to offer places I could go to get support. The attitude for support is amazing and no one has any issues in offering support. You are able so speak to the HR team online for support as well and you can speak to them about problems as well with your own manager and team.
So far the advisor has been excellent and has been very available for support with any questions and queries that I have had. The advisor has been very supportive so far and has organised meetings throughout the year to allow for talking about the workbooks and the exam. So far I am enjoying working towards the qualification as this will help with my own career.
The qualification with BPP will definitely help with my career. With doing the in depth learning for the qualification you sit and look at all the things that you have learned and it offers a reflection on your work. I found that you will have covered some of the knowledge need before completing the apprentice work so it helps to solidify the knowledge and helps you see in practice what you are doing for your role.
Absolutely. Very recently a fellow apprentice organised a quiz night to encourage network for the office, so not only are there extra activities to get involved in, apprentices can also organsie them. There is many different employee led networks that also organise different events to attend. NatWest also offer volunteering days to there staff which you can go out and help the local community. I have done tree planting at a local hospital.
Yes
The culture that the NatWest Group have created for their staff is fantastic. Even being the newest member of a team I feel valued and any opinion or answer that I have is listened to and respected. NatWest are also very pro on helping to train staff and making sure they are happy at work and that makes a great place to work .
I would say make sure that you read through the application carefully, when I applied I had to submit video answers on certain topics so make sure that you are in a quiet place were you can freely talk. There were no assessment days when I applied. I would also make sure you have a look at the NatWest website as they have lots of useful information about what skills they are looking for in staff members. I would like to have been told how long a process it can be (interviewed in July and started in November) just so that I was more prepared however this wasn't much of an issue.
