My role involves managing subcontractors packages from the financial stand point, this includes drafting their subcontracts, issuing instructions for additional works and paying them monthly.
I have definitely learnt new skills and developed existing skills to benefit me both in my career and in my social life.
I enjoy my programme very much, it is challenging which allows me to grow as an individual and pushes me to get better.
My programme is very well organised and structured, I have work 4 days a week and have university for 1 day per week.
My employer supports me in many ways, they provide me further training if required and I also have 5 study days I can take in order to complete my university work.
ARU are very supportive, I have access to all my lecturers and they help whenever I am stuck with my assignments.
My qualification has helped increase my knowledge in various areas of my role as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, for example understanding clauses in the JCT contract.
There are many extra-curricular activities I get involved in at work, these include football matches against other projects, networking events and lend a hand day once a year where we volunteer in the local community.
Yes
Skanska is a very good company to work for, during my 5 years at Skanska I have been treated fairly, with respect and there is a very family like feel to the company. I feel valued and my voice is heard.
I would tell them to not keep a guard up at the start because people will want to interact and get to know them better.
