IT Trainee: My role involves various tasks including project management, technical support and reviewing team MI. On a typical day I may investigate an ongoing issue with one of our systems, generate and review data for team performance across multiple countries, and collaborate with colleagues in several locations to meet project requirements and timescales.
I have completed several training courses including certified courses in Itil and Administration of a specific system. I have improved my project management skills, communication skills and presentation skills throughout the scheme.
The programme has been enjoyable and informative, providing continued development and tasks whilst allowing a balance to be maintained between work and personal life. The role was different to my expectations as IT is a very broad field with very different tasks required in different roles.
I regularly receive positive feedback which is directly linked to my own work from managers and colleagues in verious positions and levels of seniority, leading me to feel valued within the organisation.
The programme was the first of its type within this organisation and as such various issues were experienced during the first few months. This was much improved during the later months of the programme, and I was able to complete all of my work on time and to the required standard. There is no formal training structure outside of the apprenticeship requirements.
The training provider has been available and helpful throughout the program, and done a generally good job overall.
Support is readily available from my direct manager and HR team, and colleagues can be asked for support where required.
The salary package is a generous one compared to other apprenticeship programmes which do not provide full pay.
There are opprtunities available outside work, however the onus is on the individual to take advantage of them.
Yes
The training and salary package and workload would lead me to recommend the scheme.
Be open and professional, and show enthusiasm for the role.
