I have worked at TUI since November and this is the best job I have ever done. I sell holidays, holiday extras, car hire, transfers and insurance. But there is much more to the job than you think including currency and brochures. Everyone in the shop is so welcoming. I think it is important when working for TUI that you should never be afraid to ask someone something that you are struggling with as it is always best to ask and get it right than to not ask and get it wrong. I have passed English which is important for my role due to writing emails to customers and our managers. But I need to resit Maths which is also important for taking payments, working out how much a holiday will cost with a discount and selling currency/ foreign exchange.
I have learnt how to communicate and hold a conversation with a customer. Before this role I was not very confident in my self and others but after my training sessions I have overcome my negatives and now I feel very confident. I always love a challenge. I am good at some things in my role nd some I still struggle with such as I am good at selling Summer and Winter holidays and uploading enquiries for a customer also completing payments, whereas I struggle with changing a booking and selling flight only.
I love my job every day, there is not one time I do not want to be here. I also have to resit my Maths but all the girls in my shop are so supportive and they help me the best they can. I also ask other people from different stores. I also love my job as I have to go to different stores for training and I meet some nice new people those doing an apprenticeship also and some with an actual job role. My expectations were all the workers to be friendly and supportive which everyone was.
I have a day planned in the week to go in to the back of the shop to do my training, apprenticeship work and my maths. I also do it on the shop floor just so I can do as much as I can. I have also went to another store. I have been given resources for Maths which I really appreciate. My assessor gave me a maths book for me to revise.
My manager is on shop floor quite a lot but she always helps me and sees how I am doing when she can. My mentor in the store always checks up on me and helps me with my training she also sits next to me on conference calls. Whenever I ask any questions the girls I work with come straight up to me with a smile and whenever I have any problems with a customers booking or any situations (cancellations, payments not going through) they have no problem helping me.
When ever I am struggling with something in my training I always send her a picture asking her to help me which she does. I also ask her about maths, she gives me the equation and talks me through them and then I have to do work it out.
I am always having people help me in the shop and I develop different skills each day. In my training sessions I am learning about payments, what is allowed and what is not, our multi currency cards and insurance which helps me in my role with a customer.
We do have educational trips where if some are available we can go on educational trips which will help us with booking holidays as we know more information about that location. When I am not working I watch videos of different resorts which helps me learn new things.
Yes
Everyone in different stores always helps each other, you can contact different stores to ask things and not to feel scared as we all individually have our things that we are best at and some things we are not so good at. The staff welcomes you with open arms.
Revise for your interview for a few weeks so you are prepared. You never know what questions you will be asked in your interview. I applied on indeed so I filled it in myself by thinking of my bet answers. Once you have passed your interview you know you have achieved. I wish when I had my interview someone told me to become prepared for Maths and English due o having to take a test for both subjects. I am really bad at Maths so I wish I would have revised for that.
