we sell/deal with things such as the following - selling holidays, foreign exchange, western union, travel insurance, flight only, package deals, 3rd party, cruise. On a daily basis, greeting customers, opening procedures, helping out customers in need. Being a part of a retailing industry. Pointing customers in the right direction for a fabulous holiday.
I have learnt multiple more skills such as things like banking, how to open a shop correctly, the panic button and so much more. Admin work is one of the main new skills I have come to understand as there is a huge chunk of it in this role and work place.
There is a bit more to it than I originally thought especially with the exam at the end. I didn't realise we had to do a speaking exam and i am not very confident with doing an exam like that to be assessed on. I am an overall confident person when it comes to customers and people but not work/exam based.
It is well organised with having the catch ups every 8-10 weeks, as the apprentice coach has time to catch up with you and to see your improvement. The study days which then to happen either every Wednesday or every other Wednesday. The structure of it is really well as you can see all the work that is due by the dates etc and for you to map your work. The one bad thing i would say is once you've completed a piece of your work there isn't a folder so you can view it again. It gets taken off of smart assessor every time.
I receive multiple support from my manager as in she always likes to make sure I have enough study time for me to complete my work for the apprentice. She cheers me on and helps whenever I am stuck even my other colleagues do this too. I find it easy to talk to my manager when there is anything that is bothering me or if i need assistance such as helping loads on a 3rd party (i know how to do it now)
Again very good support with this. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is always there for me whenever I am needed, I can always send over an email or a teams message and she always tries to respond to me asap. We have gone over the qualifications multiple times and what is expected from me by the end of the apprentice towards the exams.
On the side with my apprentice i feel like i am learning a lot about the job as well as I have an atlas that was given which has all information on it such as the airport codes, destinations and so much more. The atlas even has things such as when the world cup was or the Olympics were of previous years. Also, with the apprentice you are learning about the job so it is very and learning this way as you have time to get yourself known to the job if a customers comes in and asks a question about temperature at a certain time of the year I should hopefully be able to answer that from this training and by the end of me finishing my apprentice off. There re multiple benefits for an apprenticeship with TUI such as being able to come out with a qualifications at the end of it. Also meeting new friends/people on the way is also another benefit.
On be rewarded more there is a scheme where you get discount on a bike under the ride to work on a bike. That is the only social activities I can think off apart from when all of us apprentices meet for a meeting or a get together. As we are a small shop we do not have anything near us so we do not go to things such as like if Royal Caribbean held an opening night or some form of get together. We would really be able to go because of the distance and because we have not got much around here.
Yes
Because we are trustworthy company and always go the extra mile for customers. TUI has a good reputation of being one of the biggest holidays/package deal companies going. If there are any issues we try and solve them on the spot to benefit the customers. I have only ever really flown with TUI and gone on package holidays and i love the way they function. This is before I got a job here.
The tips I would give would be, to be yourself and this is the job for you if you get excited about holidays and have a passion for travel and tourism. If you don't that is not stopping you from applying. There more to the job than just selling holidays!
