Listened to a lot of presentations about different parts of the bank, had a small group project, did interview practice and many a question and answer session. Also got some advice on CVs applications and was hard sold the idea of working at HSBC. Finally, had some little fun tasks to make sure you were paying attention for I think a prize at the end.
I don't think I gained any training or really developed anything, perhaps just increased my knowledge of different sectors of the banking world and how different jobs work. I don't feel like I was taught anything new that would personally help me develop skills more just help decide what sector I enjoy.
It was quite enjoyable as I was not in school and got to relax at home listening to people talk about their work life. I found it quite nice to not actively have to do much and meant that not too much effort was exerted whilst still soaking in the presentations which meant it was very enjoyable.
It was very well organised, with not many technical issues and everything being on time as schedule with he main hosts know what was happening when whilst offering help with any confusion. The timetable given out was very useful and kept me super organised as I knew what was happening when.
I believe I learnt a lot of what they would want me to know, it was all pros and how much each worker loved working there and how much of an amazing place it is. This meant it felt very fake and not genuine and more like a marketing campaign, I do not think I truly understood what it was like.
Not much as I already knew what I was wanting to do , although it could have been helpful for people who want to do many thing as it can help narrow down to what exact sub sector of banking they would like to work in, although saying they made it seem that every job was very enjoyable to work in.
I was not paid for this nor was I expecting to be reimbursed for this experience, considering i am not actually gaining any work experience or doing any work I am not surprised that I did not get paid nor was I reimbursed for my time spent away from my normal life.
There was a couple chances to work with other work experience members, but basically the whole thing was the in a way network with current employees by asking them question, but there is not really an opportunity to build any relationships more just gain knowledge off other employees of HSBC the whole time.
Yes
For that work experience I would because it has a low effort to result on CV ratio, as it does not require much work and is very simple to take part in, but still looks very good on the CV for employers and universities, I would also recommend it to anyone that had any enquiries about different sectors and could not find the answers on google.
For actually applying to the apprenticeship, my advice would be to just make your CV look professional using a template as no one is expecting you to have tonnes of work experience, just make it look like you made an effort and it should go swimmingly as there many spaces available in the work experience.
