  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In the customer tax reporting team which involves, cleaning data through a variety of processes individually and as a team. We then use this data to create tax packs that I prepare and reviewed by a senior and then sent to the client. Also, I am completing a qualification in tax alongside this.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a variety of new skills especially work related skills as I transitioned from full time education into an apprenticeship with EY. Most of the skills I have developed are in relation to my team CTR as well as numerous tax rules and processes that are used in practice and in my qualification.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My apprenticeship has been very different to what I expected mainly as the team I have placed in is totally different to anything I have heard of or had any prior knowledge of. I have enjoyed transitioning into the business world and collaborating with a variety of colleagues and learning many new skills

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In most ways my program is well structured such as my team structure and work balance. Also the structure of my training providers courses is very good and really informative however me and the rest of the business apprentices haven't been given too much clear information on the exact nature of how we will be studying our qualifications

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My colleagues are very supportive in every way across all levels of seniority and across a couple of different teams. When starting my apprenticeship I felt like I could ask questions about anything I needed help with especially with my buddy which is a really supportive system as well as the counselling system.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have only just started my qualification but so far my training provider have been very supportive across the first course I have completed as you could ask as many questions as needed and the course instructor was really detailed and informative when answering these questions so overall the training provider has been really supportive.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Due to the team I am in, the learning I am doing through my training provider the ATT/AAT isn't directly related as my team does not use tax rules in depth during daily work but the learning is extremely interesting and will be relevant for my long term career in tax.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Is a brilliant company with a multitude of teams and service lines so offers a range of opportunities for people to find the area in which they wish to specialise in. Also they are very supportive with the counselling and buddy system that every apprentice receives which sets up a network for support.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • When applying complete all parts of the application process as soon as possible after gaining access to them as positions can be filled before the closing date for the role. Also in interviews be very talkative and show your understanding through relating any skills to examples of this in prior part time work experience or through the education system
