I am a retail travel advisor. My day to day is selling holidays, insurance and other products in relation to travel. I also do a lot of admin work such as amendments, cancellations and dealing with customer complaints.
I have learned to become an experienced seller and also learned how to take charge of a project. I have developed my IT skills as my whole job is working from a computer
I thoroughly enjoyed my programme as I have worked with two amazing teams. Of course covid happened right in the middle which caused some issues but that was out of anyone's control.
The structure was very will organised as we had a plan in place and followed it pretty well. Again because of covid this was halted but it was so well organised that when we did resume it was very easy to get started again
My employer was very supportive, making sure we had allocated time away from my job duties to complete my course work and then pushing and encouraging me to take on more responsibility to better my expereince
I had monthly calls with my assessor to go over all the work I had submitted and to also help with anything I may be stuck on. He was very encouraging and very supportive and always adjusted any plans to suit around my busy job role.
I feel it has helped because I got to look into the role at a more detailed level than most advisors would have. I got to look into why we do certain things certain ways and understand it.
During my apprenticeship, I have gotten to go on a educational to Majorca. Be apart of organising the apprenticeship awards and even personally going to travel and meet my colleagues form my home working team
Yes
The company are very focused and encouraging of their apprentices and will do anything to help them achieve and then also help you progress when the programme is done.
Make sure this is something you really want to do as, as much as the job is a fun exciting day the work load can be a lot some days but it is fully worth it
