As an apprentice test engineer, my day to day work in the first year is going to college full time where I complete a level 2 course and a HNC, these courses will give me the required skill to become a test engineer.
I have learnt lots of new practical skills such as soldering and welding and using machines such as lathes and milling machines, as well as theoretical skills, such as problem solving
I really enjoy the apprenticeship programme I am on as it allows me to learn whilst I earn and become a fully qualified worker.
My programme is very well organised and structured as I learn about units at college that I will need a knowledge in when I work in the workplace.
I recieve lots of support from my employer and am able to contact my manager if I have any problems or queries. My employer is also willing to support me with my ambitions of progression.
I receive lots of support from my training provider, this includes help with academic writing and referencing techniques to use when working towards my HNC qualification
I feel that my qualification that I am undertaking allows me to perform better as I have a better understanding of how things work and what to do with them. The qualification also gives me a broad knowledge of engineering activities that is also beneficial.
There are no extra curricular activities that I am aware of at my work
Yes
They are a good company to work for, they make there apprentices feel supported and allow them to progress if that the route that they want to take. There are also lots of benefits and they offer.
There are lots of people that apply for an apprenticeship with BAE so it is important that when applying you stand out, but most importantly be yourself
