The work experience provided of knowledge that I wasn't aware about before this. It taught me how HSBC is more than just a bank and it is a whole community that offers much more than just accounting. It provided me with some excellent knowledge about my future career path.
I learnt how CV's are read and what employers would like to see on a CV. It taught me how to write my CV and to tailor it to my specific career path. The most important thing I learnt was to be yourself and be honest to when it comes to writing your CV.
I thoroughly enjoyed it as it opened my eyes more to the industry that I would like to work in. It has broadened my horizons and expanded my vision as to what different types of opportunities there are out there in the world and how I can utilize it to my advantage.
It was very well organised as they send you timetables of the day and when they have planned breaks and what time different workshops are and Q and A at the end of each workshop and at the end of each day. Overall, the management of this was absolutely brilliant.
It taught me that no matter where you come from, your beliefs, your skin colour, your heritage, your class that as long as you are a team player that has a good work ethic and is willing to contribute to the team and company; you will be gladly taken into the family.
I had always kept my eye on the cyber security industry and was willing to look into it in the future. However, when they announced they will be talking about it, it prodded up my ears and gave some absolutely fantastic information which made me confirm cyber security as a degree in university and made me affirm my cyber security career choice.
I was not paid for this experience. But in all honesty, the information that they gave was worth not getting paid for. They had people from all different sectors talking about different ideas and career paths which made me a lot more open minded about different career paths if I ever wanted to.
Yes there was a lot of opportunities for meeting new and old employees and having a chat with them about different subjects. I also had the chance to speak to other students on placements for a group presentation. It was very fun and also had the support of employees that work there.
