My current placement involves updating order books, issuing different pieces of work like WA's and teardowns, along with working closely with the customer and other areas of the business. I communicate with people in the USA every week and I get to meet new people all the time. I also have the responsibility of a whole process from start to finish. This is gives me a good sense of responsibility.
I have massively improved on my professionalism, time management and organisational skills since i started my apprenticeship. Being pushed and supported to take advantage of as many opportunities possible has allowed me to develop how confident i am and also it has allowed me to work on and develop my people skills.
I really enjoy all aspects of my apprenticeship. My assignments and off the job days are interactive and interesting. My placements so far have been challenging and they do keep me nice and busy. They are very rewarding and i always end up with a sense of achievement when i solve any problems that occur.
My programme is very well organised and structured. I have set placements, set times within my role, set assignments, set expectations and a very structured plan over the two years. I also have targets to reach (objectives) within time frames. This pushes me to do my best and work hard to reach these goals.
Everyone is extremely helpful. I have a support system within my placement and apprenticeship. My manager is always there when I need and looks out for me. I have lots of people available to contact. My skills coach is extremely supporting and is always check up to see if I am alright.
Due to COVID-19 my training is all online. At first i worried about not being able to ask a question easily, however the way our training takes place and the availability of the skills coaches has completely got rid of this. They are always available and are there to help whenever i need it.
Although not all of my training can be applied to my role most of it can. I learn core information i need to know about the business, the policies and regulations i as an employee need to follow. I am yet to complete the majority of my training, so i believe over time the more training i complete the more it will all fit into place and help me perform better within my role.
There are lots of extra curricular activities that apprentices can get involved in. For example when you first join as an apprentice you get the opportunity to go away for a few days on an outward bound trip. This allows all the apprentices to bond and have fun getting to know each other and start their journey as apprentices.
